When you have your pet microchipped, a tiny chip with a registration number is injected underneath the skin between their shoulder blades. The chip is about the size of a grain of rice and only contains the registration number. This number is then used to create an online account with your information.
If your pet gets lost and is brought into a vet’s office, shelter, etc., they will be scanned for a chip. The scanner will display the registration number which will then be used to look up your contact information. As long as you keep the info up to date, someone will contact you to reunite you with your beloved companion.
